Launched in 2023, Imerys British Lithium(IBL) was initially a joint venture between Imerys and BritishLithium. At the end of 2024, Imerys took on full ownership of thecompany. This decision is in line with Imerys’ strategicpositioning in the developing European lithium market. Imerys’ambition is to contribute to the UK and European energy transitionby supplying lithium to the electric vehicle battery supplychain.
The Role
Inthis newly created role, the Head of Project Delivery, reporting tothe Project Director, will be responsible for the engineeringdesign, construction and delivery of the IBL lithium project. Therole encompasses managing the project lifecycle from thepre-feasibility study, detailed design and engineering,construction through to commissioning and start-up, and ensuringthe plant's operational readiness by end of the decade.
KeyResponsibilities Include:
* Own the safe delivery of the IBL project, from thecurrent pre-feasibility phase up to and including commissioning andstart-up.
* Coordinate with engineering firms todesign the commercial plant and infrastructure, ensuringcross-disciplinary integration (process, mining, civil, mechanical,electrical, instrumentation).
* Project planningand execution: Verify equipment specifications, conduct trade-offstudies, and define project and contract executionstrategies.
* Financial and procurementmanagement: Deliver capex estimations, develop CER dossiers, andmanage RFP/RFQs, including bid evaluations andrecommendations.
* Operational support andsafety: Monitor engineering and construction progress, supportproject management, and ensure safety and compliance throughout allphases.
ThePerson
This exciting role will suit a provenproject / programme leader with a track record of delivering largescale industrial projects (min c£250m CAPEX). It is essential thatthis person has experience within the heavy processing industries,with chemical, mineral processing, mining or refining experience anadvantage, and possesses detailed knowledge of CDMregulations. It is also essential that this person hasexperience in the pre-feasibility and design feasibility studyphases as well as execution.
* Expertise in Large-Scale Projects: Experience managinglarge industrial capital projects, including major revampingprojects ensuring coordination and compliance with CDMregulations.
* International Procurement andManagement: Experienced in international engineering contracts(EPC, EPCm), equipment procurement and overseeing constructionworks.
* Sector-Specific Experience: Extensivebackground in engineering, construction and project managementwithin the heavy process industry.
* DualProject Management: Skilled in managing both Greenfield andBrownfield projects, enhancing safety, reliability andperformance.
* Multicultural and AnalyticalSkills: Adept at collaborating with international teams, analysingsolutions, and ensuring project success through technical-costapproaches and procurement strategies.
Qualifications
* Adegree in BEng, MEng, or equivalent in a related field.
* Project Management certification.
* Proven experience in the pre-feasibility and designfeasibility study phases as well as project execution.

* This role is based inCornwall and requires occasional business travel.
