The School of Medicine is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and reliable Assessments Manager to join our undergraduate assessments team at the Medical Education Centre, Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide professional management support for undergraduate assessment processes within a large, dynamic team, with over 2,200 students enrolled in medical courses across three sites: Nottingham, Derby, and Lincoln.
The successful candidate will lead the provision of effective and efficient assessments for the BMedsci, Cancer Sciences, Medical Physiology and Therapeutics, foundation year, and the graduate entry programme. Managing a team of administrators, the role involves planning and organising the preparation of assessment tasks, including knowledge-based exams, clinical examinations, written coursework, and project submissions. The Assessments Manager will oversee the recruitment of external examiners, manage the preparation of results, and coordinate the administrative aspects of exam boards. Additionally, the role includes close collaboration with the Assessments Manager for the clinical years of the BMBS programme, the Senior Operations Manager, and senior academic staff to drive continuous improvements in assessment design, delivery, and the overall student experience.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and IT skills, along with strong organisational abilities and a proactive, flexible, and hardworking approach to managing a busy workload. A relevant degree or professional qualification, or substantial relevant experience in a similar field, is required. This position is based at the Education Centre, Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, and all team members will need to travel to other hospital sites in the East Midlands on exam delivery days.
Full training on all aspects of assessment administration will be provided to the successful candidate. The post is offered as a permanent role, with full-time working hours of 36.25 hours per week. Job share arrangements may be considered.
