What you’ll be doing
Reporting directly to the Head of Nuclear Security, working in close collaboration with the Security Branch Managers, you will act as the primary interface between Nuclear Services (including Nuclear Security & Business Support) and the nuclear licensees. You will be responsible for coordinating nuclear security workforce planning. A key aspect of your role will be ensuring that licensee demand is effectively balanced with Nuclear Services capacity. You’ll collaborate with NuOps, HPC and SZC Technical Programs, the Nuclear Services Business & Commercial team, and Nuclear Security branch managers to generate and manage annual financial task orders ensuring alignment across all areas.
In addition, you’ll support the planning and preparation of monthly licensee/Nuclear Security accountability meetings, managing reporting packs to support licensee risk ownership and oversight. You’ll play a key role in engaging with EDF Early Careers, supporting the selection, onboarding, and management of Nuclear Security’s graduates and apprentices. Your representation in steering groups and Discipline Chair meetings will help drive the development of early-career professionals within the security function.
Working closely with Nuclear Security, Nuclear Services Business Support, and licensee Organisational Capability teams, you’ll coordinate LC36 and MOC requirements. Your efforts will ensure that security nuclear baseline capability is effectively maintained, providing licensees with the necessary oversight of their security workforce and resources.
Who you are
You’ll have strong commercial skills, proven stakeholder management experience with excellent attention to detail. You’ll need the ability to quickly assimilate information from various sources—both written and verbal—to make informed decisions and recommend clear courses of action. Strong computer literacy, financial acumen, and the ability to balance business and nuclear security requirements are essential.
You’ll have experience managing external stakeholders at an executive level, particularly within nuclear operators, regulators, and governmental agencies. A solid understanding of project management principles, alongside exemplary stakeholder management skills, will be key to influencing and informing decisions effectively.
We’re looking for someone with a strong grasp of relevant regulations and policies, including the Nuclear Industries Security Regulations (NISR) 2003 and ONR (CNSS) Nuclear Security Assessment Principles. Experience within the nuclear industry and formal programme management training or qualifications would be advantageous but not essential.
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
