Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. Route planning
2. Driver attendance and shift management
3. Cost control
4. Reporting
5. Ensuring driver routing is followed to achieve ETA targets
6. Driver liaison throughout the day and managing resource to achieve perfect service
7. Allocating and managing customer collections to ensure perfect service
8. Driver education and training
9. Ensuring vehicle defect reporting and daily vehicle checks are completed
10. Monitoring and controlling drivers
11. Recruitment & discipline
* Drop performance
* Attendance
* Monitoring/controlling driver start and finish times
* Uniform & vehicle checks
Staff appraisals and performance management
Continuous monitoring of sub-contractor rates and routes to ensure best value
Ensure adherence to APC policies and procedures
To ensure full compliance with all company health and safety procedures
To effectively co-ordinate and control rotas, absence, and ever-changing delivery/collection volumes
To ensure expected service levels are met
General Duties
1. Customer service
2. Health and safety
3. Accident reporting
4. Driver dispatch reporting
5. Driver discrepancies
6. Action phone calls and emails from customers chasing deliveries
7. Ensure freight is scanned after drivers have left every day
8. Damage processing, to include returns and disposing of items
9. Ensure carded delivery procedure is adhered to
Personal Specification
Essential
1. Demonstrable leadership experience with an ability to implement operational objectives
2. Effective communication, presentation and negotiating skills
3. A good knowledge of the local area
4. Excellent customer service skills
5. A pragmatic approach to problem solving and people management
6. A flexible approach to working hours
7. A full driving licence held for at least 2 years
8. Exceptional management and communication skills with an ability to delegate whilst retaining control
9. Experience in meeting corporate customer requirements and working with Key Performance Indicators
Further Information
Reporting to: Depot General Manager
Based: Saltash (PL12 6LX)
Hours of Work: Monday- Friday (40 hours) Saturday availability.
Salary: £32,500 - £37,500
Holiday Entitlement: 5.6 weeks per year (including Bank Holidays). Holiday benefit: For every continuous year you're with us, you'll receive an extra day of holiday, up to a maximum of five.
