Job overview
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, dynamic and clinically experienced children’s nurse to join the Evelina London paediatric allergy research team. This pivotal post will be part of the senior management team, acting as a key leader to a team of research professionals within the Seal Clinical Research Facility and will contribute to the achievement of the wider clinical and research related strategic objectives outlined by the Trust and Evelina London.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Band 6 or an established Band 7 as Clinical Research Facility Manager /Senior Clinical Research Nurse to lead, along with the Research Matron, a team with an extensive portfolio of NIHR non-commercial and commercial studies within the Paediatric Allergy research speciality.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will possess an excellent range of clinical skills, experience working with children, young people and families, particularly in the field of allergy and be able to demonstrate knowledge of clinical and research governance and experience of supporting clinical research, including the coordination of complex clinical trials, in the NHS setting. You will be responsible for management and leadership of the clinical research facility whilst acting as a knowledgeable resource for the wider research team. The post holder will support the development and implementation of strategies to increase clinical trial activity across the neonatal and paediatric research portfolio as well as develop extensive project management skills, working alongside the Research Matron, as the Evelina London moves to expand capacity within our purpose built Clinical Research Facility. As a skilled communicator, the successful candidate must also possess excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills, acting as an ambassador for promoting evidence based practice and research utilisation.
Person specification
Education
* Holder of current paediatric intermediate life support qualification and defibrillation skills
* GCP accreditation and Informed Consent certification
Experience
* Considerable experience in clinical trials, teaching and mentoring as demonstrated by your individual portfolio.
* Clinical experience of caring for children and young people with paediatric allergy and asthma
* Previous experience of change and leadership management and problem solving
* Experience of managing staff and leading teams
Knowledge
* Knowledge of research governance and regulations (ICH/GCP and EU Directives)
* Able to manage complex facts or situations, requiring analysis, interpretation and comparison in relation to research trials/studies.
* Able to teach/deliver core training of individual clinical trial/study protocols to junior members of staff.
