Faculty Opportunity, Associate/Full Professor Physician in Suicide Prevention, Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Thomas Jefferson University
The Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University invites individuals to apply for a faculty position in the David Farber ASPIRE Center, a newly developing center focused on understanding and treating individuals of all ages who are at increased risk for suicide. This will be a faculty appointment within the medical school at the Associate or Full Professor level. Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds and those who will advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice through their teaching and service are strongly encouraged to apply.
The academic center is focused on suicide prevention research and education; however, the center will also include outpatient clinical operations and function as a satellite to the larger outpatient psychiatric practice housed within the department. The clinic provides an intentional focus on family and family-based intervention. Faculty will have the potential to utilize this clinical setting for research inquiry. The center has strong partnerships with Addiction Medicine, Neuroscience, Public Health, Emergency Medicine, and Primary Care at Thomas Jefferson University in addition to other Philadelphia based collaborators.
Candidate’s academic backgrounds may be in Psychology, Neuroscience, Public Health, or any other discipline that effectively aligns with the overall focus of the center. Strong candidates will have the ability and desire to be a foundational research team member of the center and build an independent and sustainable research trajectory in suicide prevention.
The Department is looking for someone interested in building a research program targeting the unique qualities and specialized areas of the David Farber ASPIRE Center and help it to grow into a premier suicide prevention program in the region.
Interested candidates may submit a CV, cover letter, and research statement to Dr. Matthew Wintersteen, Center Director, at matthew.wintersteen@jefferson.edu.
