We are delighted to offer an opportunity to join the well-established cancer pharmacy team in one of the UK's largest and busiest Cancer centres.
In conjunction with the Lead ChemoCare pharmacist, you will provide leadership to a team of pharmacy technicians and the senior cancer pharmacy team to ensure the safe running of the e-prescribing system (ChemoCare). You will work closely with the Lead SACT clinician and Lead Chemotherapy Nurse to introduce paperless processes for SACT administration and ensure the safe and appropriate use of anticancer medicines in line with national and regional guidelines.

Main duties of the job
1. Provide leadership support for the governance and day-to-day operation of the SACT e-prescribing system (ChemoCare), under the auspices of the advanced pharmacy practitioner for haematology.
2. Provide highly complex advice and guidance requiring analysis, interpretation, and comparison of options on all issues relating to prescribing and therapeutics within cancer, in line with national and local guidelines.
3. Act as a Trust-wide source of information on matters relating to chemotherapy and the wider specialty; including providing support to advanced practitioners and non-medical prescribers of chemotherapy.

Job responsibilities
1. Provide leadership support for the governance and day-to-day operation of the SACT e-prescribing system (ChemoCare).
2. Undertake and support project work to develop the use of the SACT e-prescribing system, including writing risk assessments and developing guidelines.
3. Audit incidents involving the SACT e-prescribing system to identify trends or risks.
4. Provide clinical leadership and support to the technical ChemoCare team.
5. Lead on the submission of business cases to secure funding for service developments/new pharmacy posts.
6. Participate in specialized clinical pharmacy duties ensuring core clinical pharmacy activities are undertaken.
7. Provide clinical input to the Oncology and Haematology Departments.
8. Work as an independent prescriber within a defined specialist area, contributing to medicines optimization.
9. Maintain a working knowledge of prescribing and therapeutics for all services in the Cancer cluster.
10. Ensure safe, rational, and effective prescribing by undertaking medication reconciliation and ensuring continuity of patient care.
11. Proactively liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe use of medicines.
12. Contribute to clinical audits and research relevant to pharmacy practice within Cancer.
13. Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required as agreed by senior staff.
Person Specification
Training and Qualifications
* B.Pharm / BSc (Pharmacy) or MPharm
* GPhC registered
* Clinical Diploma or equivalent
* Leadership and/or management qualifications
* Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)
* Member of relevant national specialist interest group
Experience
* Extensive previous hospital experience (post-registration)
* Experience in providing specialist pharmacist review of people with cancer
* Experience of delivering clinical pharmacy service and advice related to the safe use of medicines.
* Some experience of leadership and management skills
* Experience of using SACT e-prescribing system
* Experience of project management and effective liaison with relevant Trust level committees/groups
Communication and relationship skills
* Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
* Empathy with patients and pharmacy customers.
* Proven ability to influence and negotiate with relevant senior colleagues.
Analytical and Judgement skills
* Experience of assessing and minimizing risk associated with service provision.
* Ability to work alone and make decisions within agreed parameters.
Planning and organisation skills
* Ability to plan and organise clinical pharmacy services to a specialty.
* Self-motivated with excellent organisational skills.

* Good level of computer literacy and word processing skills.
