Brief Description
Route Services is a division of Network Rail that provides the Routes with services so they can help Network Rail deliver a better railway for a better Britain. We support the Routes with a myriad of services and supplies they need to maintain and operate the railway.
This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving – making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule.
About the role (External)
As Logistics Specialist, you’ll manage and plan the safe and effective delivery of Supply Chain Operations (SCO) logistics resources to achieve customer service contract requirements, whilst maintaining excellent customer service and account management levels.
Key accountabilities include:
1. Develop and plan the service delivery requirements against an agreed work bank considering resource delivery readiness, de-confliction with other possessions and resource or delivery constraints/efficiency.
2. Review, assess and manage the impact of change to the work bank and agree outcome with customer.
3. Support the team in the production of control period and annual plans for demand planning purposes.
4. Conduct post-delivery performance reviews and follow up on improvement actions that are identified from the reviews.
5. Support and conduct weekly plan reviews with customers, work delivery partners and suppliers.
6. Support in the development and implementation of safety, planning and delivery performance, customer and work deliverer partner satisfaction and continuous improvement initiatives.
7. Working with other parts of SCO, manage the allocation of the fleet required to make the plan deliverable and efficient.
8. Collate agreed contractual data to support management of specified contracts.
9. Collate agreed performance data against specified KPIs to assist in the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following criteria:
* Able to specify all aspects of worksite and possession parameters.
* Detailed knowledge of relevant railway geography and network capability.
* Detailed knowledge of relevant train services and network capacity.
* Flexible and able to meet changing requirements and challenging deadlines within a continuous planning process.
* Successful experience in evaluating complex factors and can make decisions to maximise safety, operational and financial performance.
* Demonstrable application of continuous improvement techniques e.g. LEAN.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Successful experience of logistics planning systems.
* Detailed knowledge of planning and data handling.
* In-depth understanding of the railway industry and its needs and interfaces.
* Knowledge of relevant standards and procedures.
* Knowledge of business improvement techniques.
* Knowledge of SCO and supplier logistics facilities capabilities and constraints.

Vacancy type: This role is 12 months secondment or fixed-term contract post with the potential to extend or become permanent (unless a suitable redeployee is identified).

Location: This position is based in Bristol Temple Point.
Hours: up to 35 hours per week with hybrid working and travel as required. Whilst training you will be required to work two days a week in the office.
Salary range: £35,582 to £40,830 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
