An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner with a passion for working with children and young people with mental health difficulties.
Sandwell CAMHS is a diverse, dynamic and forward-thinking multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for a clinician with professional registration, happy to take applicants from nurses and AHPs who is enthusiastic and can demonstrate sound clinical and leadership skills. We would require you to have the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, with a compassionate approach to service users.
You would work as a Senior Specialist Clinician in Services for children and young people in the Emotional and Behavioural constellation but would also be expected to work across the other constellations based on service need. These are STEPP (Suicidality and Trauma), Neuro Developmental and Learning Disability. You will be expected to supervise junior staff and support the Team Leads and Service Manager with the management of the service.
Main duties of the job
* To be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.
* To contribute and be an active member of the multidisciplinary team.
* To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with children and their families/carers in order to progress their treatment programmes, and to ensure an understanding of their condition/problem in order to maximise their functional potential.
* To attend relevant Education, Health and Care Plan meetings (EHCP) and any other relevant forums to share information.
* To communicate sensitive information to children and parent/carers in an empathetic way about conditions that may have significant impact on future functional abilities and quality of life.
* To undertake CAMHS initial assessments and risk assessments.
* To provide consultation to other members of the MDT internal and external to CAMHS.

Our CAMHS Service is a multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, specialist nurses, systemic, child and art psychotherapists, occupational therapists, music therapists and psychiatrists, who are passionate in their aim to work with children, young people and their families in developing creative solutions to improve their mental health difficulties. The BCHFT CAMHS Service currently operates across 4 geographical areas (Sandwell, Wolverhampton, Dudley and Walsall) with contracts in each area.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Qualified Nurse or AHP
* Registration with NMC/HCPC
* Passionate about working in CAMHS
* Experience of providing leadership/supervision
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of successful completion of courses relevant to area of highly specialist knowledge and skills

Pay: £46,148.00-£52,809.00 per year
