Headley Professional Recruitment Ltd are currently recruiting an experienced Site Manager for a construction main contractor who have a new project starting in Blyth (between Doncaster and Sheffield). The client is a Leeds/Bradford based construction main contractor with an excellent reputation. They work on new build projects mainly in the industrial, retail and commercial sectors across the North of England valued between £1-8 million. They are currently recruiting an experienced Site Manager to start a new project in Blyth in March/April 2025. The project is a 2-storey new build, office and garage project which has a 40-week duration.
Main responsibilities of the Site Manager include:
1. Coordinating and clearly directing both directly employed site staff and contractors.
2. Planning and programming all site activities and coordinating labour.
3. Working closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure work is progressing according to the programme with effective cost control.
4. Promptly dealing with any issues and planning corrective actions.
5. Providing regular updates, attending and leading progress meetings and subcontractor meetings.
6. Maintaining the Group's high quality and safety standards, working closely with our in-house Health, Safety and Environmental Team.
Essential requirements:
1. Previous site management experience is essential - ideally new build commercial, retail and industrial projects.
2. You must be able to plan all aspects of construction operations and produce construction programmes. Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes and strong commercial awareness are required.
3. Strong interpersonal, leadership and people management skills are essential. You must be friendly and professional at all times when directly dealing with colleagues, contractors, clients, professionals and all others within the supply chain.
4. An academic qualification (HNC, HND, Degree in a construction-related subject) would be an advantage.
5. We are ideally seeking a candidate with in-date qualifications and training such as SMSTS, First Aid, Black Managers CSCS card, asbestos awareness, working at height, scaffold inspection.
6. A full driving licence is essential.
