Aspiring Youth Justice Worker - Corby
Ideal role for Criminology and Psychology graduates in a specialist provision for children aged 11-19, all of whom have experienced significant trauma, social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
This role focuses on holistic and restorative practices, creating empathy at every opportunity. The school emphasizes non-punitive measures, using manual handling training only when absolutely necessary.
A practical trial day will be conducted in the school to ensure the role is suitable for you, contingent on your availability to start ASAP, considering any notice period or ongoing University commitments.
Can you enhance the students' lives, keep them safe, and demonstrate the value of education? You will receive extensive SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA Training. As an aspiring clinical psychologist, you will explore areas of genuine interest and identify where your skills need enhancement.
Students are secondary-aged, all with EHCPs, including those with Autism, OCD, and varying levels of social anxiety.
This role involves physical work combined with a pragmatic approach to facilitate academic progress in line with each child's context.
Be prepared for some anti-social behavior, which is part of the role when supporting society's most vulnerable children. All training and support will be provided by the school through their excellent training system.
We employ various therapies and holistic processes, where even small progress is celebrated as success.
Focus on the diverse cognitive abilities of all students, providing positive engagement and a sense of acceptance. Different therapeutic approaches may be required as traditional talking therapy may not always be effective.
Set objectives for the students while promoting independence, especially for those in assisted living.
