Your new role
The Senior Electronics Engineer will be responsible for leading the electronics activities of the small Systems Team, who are responsible for creating, maintaining, and managing a very large range of survey equipment and systems used by the survey teams. The role involves overseeing the delivery of electrical and electronic engineering for various sensing and data capture systems, both existing and new. Responsibilities include generating innovative design concepts, translating them into formal requirements, and making cost-effective 'build or buy' decisions. The role also entails designing, developing, testing, and supporting in-house equipment, collaborating with suppliers for outsourced designs, and ensuring purchased equipment is fit for purpose. Additionally, the position requires producing technical documentation, facilitating design reviews, contributing to company standards, and occasionally supporting overseas equipment installations.
What you'll need to succeed
* Full lifecycle experience on complex equipment and systems
* Specifying and designing complex electronic systems
* Analogue and digital electronic design
* PCB design
* Design evaluation through circuit simulation and prototype building
* PCB procurement, component sourcing, subcontract manufacture and assembly, validation and verification
* Microcontroller programming in assembler, C and/or C++
* High-quality documentation
* Strong hardware debugging skills
* Working to meet EMC regulations
