5 Star Cases are looking for an experienced Supervisor to join our small friendly team based in Wisbech. The successful candidate will need a willing and enthusiastic approach to work.
Overview:
As a Cutting Shop Supervisor in our flight case manufacturing facility, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the production floor within the cutting shop department. You will be responsible for managing a team of production workers, ensuring that production targets are met efficiently, maintaining ISO 9001 quality standards, and promoting a safe working environment. You will be working closely as a team with other supervisors and the Production Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership:
o Lead, coach, and motivate a team of production workers to achieve production targets and quality standards.
o Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork and open communication.
2. Production Planning and Coordination:
o Plan and organize current order production flow to ensure optimal utilization of resources and timely completion of products.
o Coordinate with other departments such as procurement, maintenance, stores, and quality assurance to address production needs and resolve any issues that may arise.
o Monitor cutting shop's production processes to identify areas for improvement and implement efficiency-enhancing measures.
3. Quality Assurance:
o Follow quality control procedures to ensure that products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
o Conduct regular inspections of products and production processes to identify and address any quality issues.
o Work closely with the quality assurance team to investigate root causes of quality defects and implement corrective actions.
4. Health and Safety:
o Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
o Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
o Provide safety support to production staff and enforce adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
5. Performance Tracking and Reporting:
o Monitor production performance metrics such as productivity, efficiency, and quality, and assist Production and Operations management to implement strategies to improve performance.
o Collaborate with management to develop and implement strategies to optimize production processes and achieve operational objectives.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in non-food manufacturing.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and manage a diverse team.
* Solid understanding of production processes and quality control principles.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Please note that flight case manufacturing is a medium-complexity low volume operation involving many processes that include but are not limited to power tools, saws, pin and staple guns, orbital and belt sanders. Understanding and previous experience in a similar industry is preferable.
The hours of work will be Monday to Thursday, 6am - 6pm.
