Network Engineer III
Expedia Group’s Network Services Team. Our engineers support Expedia Group’s
global eCommerce and corporate networks. We are seeking a high-performing
individual contributor (primary focus corporate connectivity) who can apply new engineering principles to improve existing systems and is responsible for leading complex, pre-defined projects.
What you'll do:
* Brings together different stakeholders with varied perspectives to develop solutions to issues, and contributes own suggestions
* Thinks holistically to identify opportunities around policies/ processes to increase efficiency across organizational boundaries
* Assists with a whole systems approach to analyzing issues by ensuring all components (structure, people, process, and technology) are identified and accounted for
* Investigates standard or routine issues or incidents and drafts concise, balanced, evidence-based reports on findings
* Conducts rigorous tests and inspections of products, services, solutions, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
* Analyzes requirements and assists with the design of architecture
* Has a working knowledge of how the solutions using the technology impact the capacity requirements for same
* Research information, data, trends, and best practices in emerging technology and shares beneficial information with relevant stakeholders
Who you are:
* 5+ years of experience in Network Engineering.
* Bachelors in IT or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
* Proficient in installing and configuring enterprise or service provider-grade network hardware.
* Intermediate skills/knowledge in routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, MPBGP, ISIS)
* Intermediate skills/knowledge in SD WAN solutions including ability to appraise WAN/ISP performance using network analysis tools.
* Intermediate skills/knowledge in wireless troubleshooting with good understanding of RF engineering principles.
* Intermediate skills/knowledge of LAN/dot.1x technologies/protocols (e.g., Cisco ISE).
* Experience with creating wireless predictive designs and completing post installation surveys with Ekahau wireless tool.
* Intermediate skills/knowledge in firewall technologies, IPS/IDS (e.g., Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Cisco Firepower, AWS Network Firewall, ZScaler products).
* Intermediate skills/knowledge in remote VPN solutions (e.g., Cisco AnyConnect, PA Global Protect).
* General experience/knowledge of platforms offered by major network vendors (e.g., Cisco, Meraki, Juniper, HPE/Aruba, Arista, ZScaler)
* Intermediate knowledge of models used to show network state and for configuration (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, IPFIX, Netconf, Restconf, gRPC).
* Intermediate knowledge of common monitoring platforms (Nice to have: DataDog experience).
* Performs routine network management responsibilities for the LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
* Basic to Intermediate skills in any software automation languages e.g. Python, Java, etc
* Gathers pertinent information about a problem by analysing data patterns to identifying underlying issues.
* Can gain understanding of business impacts created by problems with the technology.
* Researches and recommends solutions based on industry trends/knowledge.
* Implements solutions based on knowledge of standard practices and previous experiences; escalates complex or unprecedented issues and needed.
* Nice to have: relevant certification (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CCNP)
* Nice to have: Maintained and enhanced production network services in public/hybrid cloud infrastructure.
* Nice to have: Implemented pipeline solutions to manage infrastructure as code.
* Nice to have: Creates APIs to be consumed across the business unit.
