Job Title: Stock Analyst

Role Purpose
This role will be critical in ensuring accurate stock valuation and reporting. This role will be responsible for analysing inventory data, identifying trends, variances and inefficiencies, as well as supporting decision making through detailed reporting and forecasting. This role bridges the gap between finance and operations, ensuring that inventory processes align with financial objectives, compliance standards and cost control initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyse inventory transactions and reconcile discrepancies between financial records and physical stock.
* Collaborate with operations, logistics, and procurement to track inventory movement and costs.
* Monitor and report on inventory KPIs (turnover, days on hand, shrinkage, write-offs).
* Ensure inventory is appropriately provided for against each inventory line/SKU
* Perform month-end and year-end inventory close activities, including journal entries and reporting.
* Assist in cycle counts and physical inventory audits; ensure compliance with internal controls.
* Develop inventory forecasts and work with supply chain teams to optimise inventory levels.
* Provide analytical and operational support to stock reductions plans, ensuring that tax records and proceeds from sale are recorded appropriately.
* Understand and report on the impact of working capital and cash of various stock cover and payment term dates.
* Support ERP/inventory system upgrades or implementations from a financial perspective.
* Support stock appraisals to determine NOLV as part of the asset based lending facility.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
* 2–5 years of experience in financial analysis, inventory control, or cost accounting.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) preferred.
* Understanding of inventory accounting principles (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average, etc.).
* Ability to communicate complex data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
* ACCA/CIMA qualification is an advantage.
* Experience in retail industry in a similar role.
* Knowledge of inventory optimisation models and data visualisation tools.
