Disposal Surveyor - Slough Borough Council
Location: Slough (Hybrid - 3 days office-based)
Rate: £600 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract: 5-month initial term | 37 hours per week
Slough Borough Council is seeking an experienced Disposal Surveyor to lead on the delivery of its asset disposal programme. This is a fantastic interim opportunity for a property professional with a strong background in disposals, particularly within the public sector or local government.
The Role
As Disposal Surveyor, you will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the Council's strategy for the disposal of surplus property assets. Your work will directly support the optimisation of the Council's property portfolio and contribute to generating capital receipts and long-term value.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead the implementation of the Council's asset disposal programme
·Dispose of surplus property through sale or lease, including coordination of Red Book valuations
·Prepare professional reports and briefings for internal stakeholders and decision-makers
·Manage leasehold assets and negotiate income-generating opportunities
·Drive re-gearing and letting strategies to maximise value and income
·Conduct due diligence, negotiate favourable terms, and manage legal aspects of disposals
·Lead negotiations with landowners, agents, developers, and other stakeholders
·Carry out internal valuations and maintain accurate property data records
·Provide expert advice on asset enhancement strategies prior to disposal
·Support operational property acquisitions where needed
·Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and procurement policies
About You
·Proven experience in property disposals, ideally within a local authority setting
·Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation skills
·Confident in delivering presentations and reports to senior stakeholders
·Ability to build positive working relationships across internal and external partners
·Up-to-date knowledge of property legislation and public sector procedures
·Membership of RICS (or equivalent recognised professional body) is essential
