Position Description:
The Advanced Propulsion Research Laboratory (APRL) is growing in support of our automotive client's research and development programmes. They are engaged in projects across both Power Electronic and ICE capable facilities. As these projects come online, they are obliged to the university to market the facility to 3rd parties through the conditions of the UKRPIF grant. The incremental capacity demand within APRL to enable BEV 3.0, ICE, and third-party workload requires effective management of the test system automation structure in relation to test scripts, PUMA files, and additional software such as CAMEO, INCA, dSpace, IndiCOM, etc. To support this capability, which is essential to operations, a permanent engineer is needed to enable and maintain laboratory capability.
Skills Required:
1. Knowledge of AVL test systems and IT integration
2. Cameo experience
3. AVL PUMA experience
4. Develop and implement data management strategies to streamline data collection, storage, and retrieval processes
Experience Required:
1. High level of competence with AVL Puma Open 1.5.3, including knowledge of the 5 main blocks used (SYS, TFP, UUT, PAL, and TST)
2. Scripting (MS Basic and AVL scripting environment)
3. Operational issue and breakdown resolution
4. Operation from a Santorin Host Puma Open system configuration
5. Extensive experience in the automotive testing environment, including ICE, Hybrid, and EV systems
6. Strong understanding of electronic integration into mechanical control systems
7. Demonstrated ability to take technical leadership and own outcomes at all levels
Education:
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Additional Information:
This role is based within Warwick University and supports activities for the University, our automotive client, and third parties. As a technically competent automation lead, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the test data structure, including test data, automation scripts, and control scripts for all test programs in the APRL test facilities. This role also involves troubleshooting issues and creating detailed test reports. Additionally, you will be required to promote the facility at external events and work with the business team to develop the customer base, engaging with internal client teams, university partners, and promoting the test capabilities more widely within the industry to third parties.
This role is on a contract basis and is Inside IR35. Initial 4-month period with potential for yearly renewal thereafter.
