London College of Contemporary Arts
Fashion Technician (inc. evenings)
Permanent (part-time, circa 16 hours per week)
Location: Sceptre Court, London
Salary: Competitive
At LCCA, we are on the cusp of a significant period of growth and pride ourselves on the use of technology and experiential blended learning. As such, we’ve got an opening for a Fashion Technician to join us at LCCA and undertake the curriculum support of construction units in fashion design and take responsibility for the studio systems in place, which includes various types of equipment and machinery.
This is an opportunity for the role-holder to work collaboratively with the fashion lecturer and course director. The role holder will be expected to engage in the area of construction within the fashion design units and aspects across clothing construction. Ideally the role holder’s professional practice will demonstrate an excellent knowledge of construction finishes as well as tailoring skills.
LCCA courses are unique in that they may be taught across the week (in the day); in two evenings in the week and at the weekend and follow a blended learning approach. Candidates may have to work across evenings and weekends, as determined and discussed at your interview matched against your preference, the workload and resource allocation and needs of the business.
The ideal candidate:
You will have possessed technical expertise providing practical day-to-day support to students, thereby enhancing the student-lifecycle, and contributing to LCCA’s experiential learning approach. The postholder will work closely with the academic team and various other functions at LCCA and contribute to curriculum support.
You will genuinely love helping others and have a “hands-on” approach in supporting teaching and learning across fashion construction related curriculum and programmes.
The postholder would take pride and serve as a brand-ambassador, by partaking in open-days, contribute ideas and continuous ways of improvement and be a champion of health & safety and good working guidelines and practices.
