Teaching Assistant – Tamworth SEMH school
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor or Residential Support worker looking for a rewarding role? Do you enjoy dismantling social and academic barriers for young people? This excellent SEMH school in Tamworth is currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support for students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be providing 1-2-1 classroom-based support for Key Stage 4 students, helping them to stay on task, regulate emotions, and engage in lessons. Strong behaviour management and communication skills are essential for this role. This is an ongoing position, Monday to Friday 08:30 – 15:30, and requires previous experience supporting young people who have displayed challenging behaviours or social emotional & mental health needs.
Job Role:
1. Providing students with tailored support that helps them to enjoy learning.
2. Acting as a positive role model for students, helping them to understand the impact that their actions have on other staff and students.
3. Breaking down academic barriers, helping children to engage with lessons.
4. Taking part in whole school activities, trips, and reward days.
5. Managing challenging behaviours, removing the child from the classroom if required, and helping them to calm down.
