Senior Project Controller
Our client, a leading engineering and maintenance provider based in Warrington, is looking for a Senior Project Controller to join their team on a permanent basis. This role can be hybrid but will require attendance at the Warrington office at least twice a week.
Main Responsibilities:
* Support the engineering project manager (EPM) in monitoring, controlling, and reporting engineering projects.
* Manage projects ranging from Concept Design to Execution Design across various sectors (Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, Food), typically up to 30,000 hrs.
* Depending on size and complexity, work on one project or a portfolio of projects.
* Ensure integrity and effectiveness of planning/scheduling, cost, project change control, and project risk management in line with the contract.
* Set up the project schedule and reporting system in line with project contract requirements.
* Update and monitor the project schedule and control estimate with input from discipline lead engineers, procurement manager, and EPM.
* Provide planning and cost information (e.g. histograms, S-curves, performance indices) required for progress reports.
* Identify changes in resource requirements for projects.
* Advise the EPM on ways to recover from programme slippage.
* Identify risks to the programme or budget and advise the EPM.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Required:
o Previous experience as project controls engineer in an Engineering / EPCM / EPC company within the mentioned sectors.
o Experience in setting up an Engineering project schedule and reporting system.
o Sound knowledge of multidiscipline engineering projects and understanding of interdependencies and logic links between activities and deliverables.
o Experience working on large scale portfolios, programmes, or projects.
o Knowledge of various phases of engineering and construction projects - concept, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning.
o Experience with common standard forms of contract (NEC3 and 4, FIDIC, etc.).
o Strong understanding of Project Controls practices, processes, and tools, including standard metrics such as BCWS, BCWP, ACWP, SPI, CPI.
o Capability in scheduling software (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel).
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and PowerPoint) and SAP.
o Experience with cost control, risk management, and reporting tools.
o Result-oriented, focused on helping the EPM complete projects profitably.
* Preferred:
o HND / BSc / BEng / MSc in Engineering or Chartered Engineer.
o Qualification from APE (Association of Planning Engineers) and/or AcosteE (Association of Cost Engineers).
