The role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate delivery of financial and management reporting. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to contribute to the firm's continued growth by driving financial efficiency and supporting key stakeholders across the business. Taking full ownership and responsibility, this role requires a solutions-oriented approach and the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
About you
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA preferred) with at least three years of post-qualification experience. You will possess strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly. A proactive mindset, keen attention to detail, and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leaders are essential.
You should bring a fresh perspective, be inquisitive, and have a natural inclination to challenge existing processes to drive improvements. The role requires a detail-oriented approach, with a strong ability to challenge business decisions while maintaining positive working relationships. The expectation is that you will work with autonomy and efficiency and can work with urgency to meet deadlines.
As the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. Taking full ownership of all costs within the general ledger, ensuring the monthly financial results are accurate, well-understood, and communicated to the Financial Controller and Finance Director.
2. Managing cost accounting, overheads, leases, service charges, and liaising with support functions on budget-related matters.
3. Conducting meetings with budget holders, preparing financial files, and ensuring all data flows through accurately.
4. Preparing and reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
5. Conducting monthly variance analysis against budgets with insightful commentary, proactively investigating variances where necessary.
6. Managing, developing, and supporting the Assistant Management Accountant, fostering a culture of high performance and professional growth.
7. Acting as a key contact for external auditors, overseeing the preparation of year-end audit files, and liaising on statutory audit matters.
8. Collaborating with the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to prepare annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, working closely with Operational Directors.
9. Partnering with key stakeholders across the business to provide financial insight, ensuring accuracy in cost allocation and forecasting.
10. Overseeing payroll-related postings and ensuring accurate classification of personnel costs and compliance with tax regulations.
11. Managing entertainment expenditure and liaising with relevant teams to ensure proper financial controls are in place.
12. Championing process improvements, working alongside the FP&A Manager to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities within the finance function.
