Job Description
* Lead audit projects from start to finish - manage the team, deal with clients directly, spot risks and ensure compliance with UK standards.
* Handle financial statements and accounts for clients - possess a thorough understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS. Resolve complex accounting issues with partners as necessary.
* Manage accounts preparation clients - oversee the process from start to finish, including tax returns, ensuring timely filings with HMRC and Companies House.
* Build strong client relationships - serve as the primary contact for inquiries, proactively solve problems, and provide sound advice.
* Support the development of junior team members - mentor them, review their work, and offer constructive feedback to foster improvement.
* Identify business growth opportunities - look for ways to enhance client services and collaborate with partners to secure new work.
* Ensure projects remain on track and within budget - manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and maintain clear client communication.
* Stay updated on the latest rules and regulations - engage in continuous learning and professional development through training and updates.
The Successful Applicant
* Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) or at final stages of qualifying - part-qualified candidates with substantial experience will also be considered.
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in practice, with strong exposure to both audit and accounts preparation - mixed role experience is advantageous.
* Solid understanding of UK GAAP and familiarity with accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, etc.).
* Attention to detail combined with an ability to see the bigger picture.
* Proficient in Excel - familiarity with pivot tables and VLOOKUPS is essential.
* Excellent time management skills and ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
* Strong interpersonal skills - must be approachable and professional when interacting with clients and mentoring junior staff.
* Problem-solving mindset - capable of thinking on your feet and providing practical solutions.
* Driving license and willingness to travel to client sites in Manchester and surrounding areas.
* Ambitious and eager to learn - the role will evolve, and we seek someone ready to take on more responsibility.
