An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced band 5 nurse to work with the Cardiac Surgery Research Team to deliver a new study funded by Kidney Research UK.
This will be an engaging role, with lots of patient contact. The study will involve patient recruitment, scheduling sampling, data collection, and completing follow-up for this important study. There will also be the opportunity for working alongside the senior nurses on a variety of other studies. Senior nurses will support full training and development, and this opportunity will provide the necessary skills and experience to progress within the research nurse career pathway.
Main duties of the job
Great organization skills will be required in order to manage a detailed scheduling pathway for patient sampling.
Attention to detail will be key, to complete the trial activities according to the study protocol and ensure the collection of high-quality data and samples.
Excellent communication skills—verbal and written—will be essential to complete the consent process and record detailed data for the study.
Experience of working in acute care such as an intensive care or coronary care setting, with patients receiving invasive monitoring, will be necessary to ensure that samples are taken safely during the acute phase of the patient stay.
Other duties will involve support to deliver other cardiac surgery studies with support from the senior research nurses in the team.
