The Dorset Centre of Excellence, which includes Coombe House School, is seeking a Leisure Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations and commercial development of our swimming pool and leisure facilities, ensuring they are safe, compliant, and well-utilised by both the school community and external users. About the Role
As Leisure Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the school’s leisure facilities during the school day while driving community engagement and commercial growth outside of school hours. You will:
* Lead and supervise a team of Leisure Assistants and Lifeguards.
* Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, including pool plant operations, water testing, and risk assessments.
* Support the school’s PE and co-curricular activities by ensuring the facilities are available and well-prepared during the school day.
* Develop and promote leisure activities to increase revenue through bookings, memberships, and private hires.
* Engage with the community, fostering strong partnerships and delivering events that maximise the use of the facilities.
* Oversee facility operations, including scheduling, equipment setup, and ensuring high cleanliness standards.
To succeed in this role, you will be highly organised, customer-focused, and proactive, with a strong background in leisure operations and team leadership.
We are looking for someone who:
* Has a valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) (or willingness to obtain).
* Can demonstrate compassion and understanding of children and young people with social communication, social emotional and learning needs.
* Is an experienced Lifeguard with strong water safety knowledge.
* Has experience in supervising and motivating a team.
* Has proven knowledge of sports and leisure activities and experience working with community organisations.
* Is positive, proactive, and resilient in their approach, with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

About the Dorset Centre of Excellence:
The Dorset Centre of Excellence is located at the eastern edge of Shaftesbury, approximately 2.3 miles from the town centre. The site is accessed via a private road and enjoys a secluded setting within its grounds. The accommodation extends to over 160,000 sq ft, set within in grounds of 55 acres. Coombe House School located at the Dorset Centre of Excellence meets the needs of children and young people with social communication, social emotional and learning needs, and all are supported by an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Full time salary: between £25,183 – £27,269
Hours: Full time 37 hours, pattern to be confirmed between 06.30 and 18.00 Monday to Friday, with possible future rota cover on a Saturday.
