Job purpose:
To assist with a variety of tasks which will assist the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the employer:
Our client is a 36year old gentleman looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to provide social support for 30 hours per week.
Our client has Asperger’s Syndrome and other conditions. He needs someone with a sense of humour and not easily offended. Our client can be very chatty when he feels comfortable and confident in his own surroundings. However, when meeting new people, he can become withdrawn feel nervous and lack confidence. Because of his major depressive disorder, our client can also have down days so needs someone with a calm and patient approach.
It takes time to establish trust with people so respect and honesty is very important also having structure and routine is his life is also helpful.
Our client would like a PA to be able to help build upon his own personal confidence and help him to meet new people and establish relationships at his own pace without any pressure.
Main duties:
Social duties
keep in touch and socialise with family and friends
participating in activities I enjoy such as computing & retro gaming
attend medical appointments when required
help me seek out activities I can do to meet new people
accompanying me to social activities
These duties may vary from day-to-day.

Hours of work: 30 hours per week –
Times and days to be discussed at interview stage.
Rate of pay: £12.00 per hour
Skills, qualifications, and experience:
Essential:
driving licence
car and appropriate insurance
previous experience of working with individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome
confidentiality

Preferred:
computer literate

ability to support people with complex needs.
Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.
This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
