We have 1 37.5 hours posts available to recruit for in the phlebotomy department at Walsall manor hospital. The post holder will carry out phlebotomy (blood sample collection) in the inpatients wards, outpatients department and the antenatal clinic. We also cover two external sites ; for which you will receive training for.
We are a Monday - Sunday service and the post holder will participate in a 7 day Rota including bank holidays. If you are enthusiastic, flexible and take pride in your work then this could be opportunity for you.
An opportunity has arisen for experienced Phlebotomists or individuals who have completed phlebotomy training to join the Phlebotomy Service based at Walsall Manor Hospital.
You will be responsible for taking blood samples from inpatients and outpatients at Walsall Manor hospital. You will need to demonstrate that you have the ability to work on your own initiative and to tight deadlines in a pressurized environment, and you must be able to walk, bend and handle medium loads over extended periods of time.

Key Responsibilities
The post-holder will undertake other phlebotomy registered practitioner to effect timely investigations and treatments for adult patients.
The post holder will work regularly without direct supervision, but with guidance from the phlebotomy supervisor and manager where required.
Main duties and Responsibilities
1. To perform Phlebotomy on patients in the inpatient, outpatient, antenatal and external sites as required
2. Provides and receives sensitive information from patients and their representatives where a high degree of people skills is necessary. This may include dealing with distressed or aggressive patients.
3. To correctly identify patients and to label blood samples taken from them safely and accurately.
4. The postholder will exercise autonomy within professional boundaries and will be required to verify and validate specimen collection from phlebotomy ward collection sheets.
