Health & Safety Manager Location: Reading Project Type: MOD Framework – New Build & Refurbishment Duration: Temporary to Permanent Rate: Up to £300 per day We are working with a leading Main Contractor delivering a long-term MOD framework in Reading, offering a secure pipeline of work for a minimum of 3 years, with potential for further extension. The project comprises a combination of new build and refurbishment schemes, forming part of a wider defence infrastructure programme. The new build elements will include a variety of structures such as office buildings, training facilities, storage units, and ancillary buildings, constructed using a mix of steel frame and reinforced concrete (RC) frame construction methods. Refurbishment works will involve upgrades to existing MOD facilities, including internal reconfigurations, M&E enhancements, and fabric repairs within live operational environments. Security Clearance Required Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible to undergo security vetting. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance across the project Ensure adherence to MOD health & safety standards, regulations, and site protocols Carry out site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, and provide corrective action plans Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and inductions for site personnel and subcontractors Work closely with site teams to promote a positive safety culture and implement best practices Maintain and update H&S documentation, incident reporting, and compliance records Support accident investigations and ensure timely closure of corrective actions Requirements: Demonstrable experience as a Health & Safety Manager on major construction projects, ideally including MOD or secure sites NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum requirement) – NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma preferred In-depth knowledge of current HSE legislation, CDM regulations, and site compliance standards Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to engage across all levels Proactive approach to risk identification and incident prevention Eligibility for security clearance is essential What’s on Offer: Long-term opportunity on a secure and prestigious MOD framework Route to permanent employment with a well-established main contractor Opportunity to influence safety culture on complex and critical infrastructure projects Stable pipeline of work and career development prospects To apply for this role please send your CV through the portal or get in contact with Sam Marsden at Falcon Green directly
