Position
Role Purpose
The Assistant Investment Analyst – Multi-Asset is responsible for assisting with research and recommendation of funds within their allocated sectors. The recommended funds can span across various asset classes, which include equities, fixed income, commodities, and alternative investments. The role requires strong research skills, analytical skills, market knowledge, and an understanding of client and portfolio manager needs and risk preferences. The Assistant Investment Analyst needs to have the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders as well as collaborate with a team of portfolio managers, assistant portfolio managers, analysts, and support staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with sourcing, collating, and the provision of data and reports to support the investment process.
* Assist with conducting fund research and analysis of macroeconomic trends and market conditions for allocated sectors to identify potential investment opportunities and provide input into the team forums.
* Support fund recommendations to portfolio managers to assist with the management of a range of investment solutions in line with their objectives, investment policies, and risk management guidelines.
* Maintain approved fund lists and portfolio recommendations for assigned sectors and provide detailed updates at internal forums.
* Assist with modelling and implementation of trades, incorporating portfolio views and strategies within portfolios, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of dealing, and considering trading costs and other factors.
* Monitor daily performance and risk metrics of funds and portfolios and provide regular reports to the Investment Committee.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, including adherence to investment limits, trade execution procedures, and disclosure of conflicts of interest.
* Build and maintain relationships with clients, intermediaries, and other stakeholders, providing updates on performance and investment outlook, and addressing any concerns or questions.
* Represent the Multi-Asset team in external forums, such as conferences, roadshows, and industry associations, as well as in one-to-one engagements with clients.
* Contribute to the sales and marketing process through the creation of insightful and engaging presentations, articles or thought-leadership papers.
* Collaborate with the team or work individually on project assignments.
Secondary Responsibilities
* Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with stakeholders, including adherence to ethical principles and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
* Define and role-model the behaviours expected within the Investments team and within Marlborough at large.
* Maintain certification status and participate in continuing education programs to keep up-to-date on the latest industry developments.

Experience:
* 0 - 5 years of industry experience, or
* 0 - 5 years of assistant analyst experience with a track record of performance in fund recommendations.
* Developing knowledge of financial markets, macroeconomic trends, and investment vehicles across multiple asset classes.
* Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
* Developing experience in building strong relationships, and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry guidelines, including best practices in investment management and risk oversight.
* Demonstrated professionalism in managing confidential information and adhering to ethical principles.
* Working knowledge of regulations impacting investment management firms.
* Technical knowledge and experience of the regulatory and risk management frameworks.
