Job Description:
The Rivers Partnership was formed as a plurality when the Derwent Ings Benefice of 5 churches and the Escrick Group of 3 churches joined together in January 2022.
Situated in the Vale of York, just a few miles southeast of the city, these beautiful rural communities have easy access to amenities on the outskirts of York and in the city centre. Bordered by the river Ouse to the west, the river Derwent to the east, and with the Pocklington Canal to the south, there are countryside walks, nature trails, and water sports on your doorstep, as well as an area steeped in history.
As a diocese, we are striving to be a people who are ‘Living Christ’s Story’. Our vision as The Rivers Partnership is:
* Living Christ’s Story by being welcoming, accepting and involving - Everyone should feel welcome to be part of our Church family irrespective of age, background, circumstance, race, gender, sexuality, disability or neurotypicality.
* Living Christ’s Story by being accessible - We aim to be accessible to those with mobility issues, hearing loss, visual impairment, mental health conditions, and those on the autistic spectrum. We are working towards being dementia-friendly and young children-friendly churches in various ways.
* Living Christ’s Story by being a safe place - Our Churches take seriously our duty to ensure everyone’s safety. We commit to making Church a safe, non-judgemental, and friendly environment where people can thrive, grow spiritually, and participate fully in Church life.
* Living Christ’s Story by celebrating difference - A healthy church celebrates diversity, recognizing that differences help us grow, just like a family.
Our worship and connection with local communities are central to our priorities. We offer a range of services across the Rivers Partnership, including 8am, 9am, 4pm, and 6pm services, with a variety of worship styles from high church to low church, traditional to alternative, catering to diverse preferences.
We value our strong links with local schools, organizations, and communities. Many of our churches date back to the 14th century but are well-maintained and adapted for community use.
The post includes an attractive 4-bedroom vicarage in Escrick, set in a large garden, with good links to York and Selby via the A64 and A19.
We are praying for an Assistant Minister who:
* Will work in partnership with our vicar, lay and authorized ministers, and office holders to deepen and extend the shared life and ministry of the Partnership.
* Will be an encouraging, prayerful, and visible pastoral presence in our caring village communities.
* Has a genuine desire to connect joyfully with people of all ages.
* Will nurture our relationships with local schools.
* Wants to help make God’s love visible in our communities.
* Will actively participate in sacramental ministry, including occasional offices.
