Responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting server infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability across all systems.
Broad knowledge of specific ICT skills, including, but not limited to: VMware, SQL, Load balancing, DNS, Windows, and Linux OS. Provide expert guidance and expertise in digital technology solutions, including their implementation and continuous management.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the ICT Business Systems Manager, the post holder will be part of a team that supports the ICT infrastructure of Aneurin Bevan Health Board, which comprises over one hundred sites, including hospitals, clinics, and associated support and administration services.
1. The post holder will work as part of the Systems Support Team within ICT Services and will undertake the technical tasks required in providing comprehensive systems support service to the Health Board and other organisations.
2. The post holder will be involved in project and technical support.
3. The post holder will supervise a team of ICT Systems Support Analysts.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

This is a cross-functional unit where all members participate in all operational aspects of the team. Team members are empowered to provide a level of service that will ensure fulfilment of the terms and conditions of the Service Level Agreement for systems support services between ICT Services and its customers. The post holder will be required to develop and maintain working relationships with:
* ICT Services staff at all levels
* Health Board staff at all levels including: members of the Digital, Data & Technology Directorate, Facilities Management Contact Centre Staff, Works and Estates Project Officers, Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) and colleagues within the Health Board and counterparts throughout Wales
* Suppliers
* External support organisations
* Other organisations e.g. Welsh Assembly Government (WAG), Social Services etc.
As a senior member of staff, the post holder will play a large part in maintaining the professional image of ICT Services. Interaction with Health Board staff at all levels will be of the utmost importance, in particular an excellent working relationship between the post holder and the main customer contacts will be essential. Excellent communication of information on workload, adhesion to Service Level Agreement (SLA) terms, identification of requirements for specialist help, staff issues and other problems arising on a daily basis, is essential. Introduction of new systems, tools and services will require strong project management skills, including the use of management software, scheduling of resources, prioritisation of requirements and reporting. Excellent organisational, administrative and time management skills will be required throughout. You will seek out areas where processes can be streamlined and new improved ways of working can be utilised. You will assist or lead, as appropriate to your role, in service improvement activities within ICT Services. You may contribute similarly to the productivity improvement initiatives of others in the Health Board when requested. May be required at times to work outside of standard working hours. Will also be expected to join, on an ongoing basis, an out of hours on-call escalation rota. The post holder will be based in Ty Gwent, Cwmbran, but able to travel to any of the Health Board premises. Staff may be required to work cross-speciality as part of a virtual team within the Business Systems services area as required.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent demonstrable level of work experience and knowledge.
* Plus post-graduate diploma level specialist IT training and experience to include: Information technology, ITIL Intermediate Lifecycle qualification.
* Evidence of Continual Professional Development.
Desirable
* One or more certified MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer), CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), MCP (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer).
* Formal project management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE 2).
