We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity as a Group Manager in Cornwall Council’s Legal & Governance Service. You’ll help steer the Service as a member of the management team, alongside the Head of Legal & Governance and the other two Group Managers. You’ll have responsibility for the Children’s, Adults, and Regulatory & Litigation teams, supported by experienced team leaders.
Ideally, you’ll have sound management experience, be legally qualified, and with children’s social care as your specialism. Part of your role will be supporting positive outcomes being secured for children and young people, by working alongside our outstanding Ofsted rated Together for Families Service. You will have the conduct of a personal caseload of complex childcare matters, and have a sound understanding of the issues that need to be addressed to deliver a service that makes a real difference to children.
In addition to having a keen customer and client focus, you’ll have experience of advising elected Members and/or engaging with senior managers and working with external stakeholders. You’ll play an important role in ensuring the teams you are responsible for, and the wider Legal & Governance Service, contribute to the Council successfully delivering its priorities for the benefit of Cornwall. As part of the Service Management Team, you’ll also be responsible for budget management, income generation, and advising elected Councillors.
You’ll be great at oral and written communication, the ability to work under pressure and to strict timescales, as well as being an accomplished advocate.
If you’ve got the motivation, resilience and experience for this role, we’d love to hear from you.
