Residential Support Worker
Location: Deal, Kent
Salary & Hours: Negotiable
The Role
1. To be a part of a team offering a comprehensive residential service to children and young people, ensuring their physical, social, and emotional care and development.
2. To carry out duties in line with Back on Track's policies and procedures.
3. To act as a key worker to specific children and young people.
4. To promote structure, boundaries, and domestic routines within the home.
5. Work in line with children and young people's care and placement plans.
6. Promote positive outcomes for children and young people in areas of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution, and achieving economic wellbeing.
7. Work in accordance with the legal frameworks governing practice, including Quality Standards for Children's Homes 2015 and Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
8. Cooperate with any inspection process.
9. Provide a positive role model for the young people, presenting yourself in a highly professional manner.
10. Work in partnership with other agencies for the benefit of the young people.
11. Participate in and complete reports for statutory reviews and meetings concerning the young people.
12. Support young people with project and group work.
13. Undertake the role of Key Worker and ensure compliance with Key Working policy.
14. Complete relevant training programmes as required by the National Minimum Care Standards.
15. Work in partnership with colleagues and other professionals to meet the social, emotional, educational, health, and mental health needs of young people.
16. Work within the code of confidentiality and ensure compliance with GDPR regulations.
17. Be aware of and responsible for the health and safety of the home, young people, colleagues, and yourself.
18. Cooperate with the organization in complying with Health and Safety requirements, following Company policies, and reporting unsafe practices and conditions.
Other Requirements
1. Full driving licence is preferred.
2. Attendance at all mandatory and specialist training as directed.
3. Attendance at staff meetings and clinical supervision groups.
4. Supervision attendance as directed.
Skills and Qualifications
1. NVQ 3 - Level 3 Diploma (QCF) qualified in Children Young People's Workforce.
2. Effective communication skills with colleagues, outside agencies, children, and families.
3. Good interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work as part of a team and use initiative when required.
5. Effective listening skills.
6. Ability to report and record to a high standard.
Knowledge
1. Ability to work in partnership with other agencies, including Local Authorities.
2. Ability to form professional and positive relationships with children and young people.
3. Effective communication with children and families.
4. Ability to work in isolation and respond appropriately to potential risks.
5. Ability to deal with difficult situations and make appropriate decisions in line with reporting procedures.
6. Ability to learn quickly and absorb information related to working with children and young people.
7. Ability to promote the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people.
8. Willingness to ask for guidance and support and admit mistakes.
