Buying Co-Ordinator working three days in the office and two from home.
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30-17:00
We are seeking a buyer to join a bubbly, forward-thinking team near Swindon. Previous buying experience is a massive advantage but not essential. The ideal candidate must have excellent organisation skills, attention to detail, analytical abilities, and proficiency in Excel and IT.
Duties include:
1. Lead and manage the delivery of a competitive supply chain through strategic and operational procurement.
2. Lead and manage the procurement team and department, focusing on commercial and operational benefits.
3. Ensure integrity and compliance with internal systems, processes, and procedures.
4. Maintain appropriate liaison with internal stakeholders to ensure a proactive approach.
5. Ensure continuity and expansion of the supply chain while maintaining competitive pricing for increased profitability.
Key Activities:
1. Select suitable suppliers, prepare and issue enquiries, and carry out quotation analysis and evaluation.
2. Negotiate and agree contracts for goods and services in line with budget requirements.
3. Negotiate and agree rebate contracts with key suppliers.
4. Support Project Quantity Surveyors in selecting and appointing project-specific labour teams and sub-contractors.
5. Advise estimators to ensure current cost information is communicated at the bid stage.
6. Manage the procurement process to facilitate project programmes.
7. Attend internal meetings to support project delivery in line with budget and programme requirements.
8. Manage and coordinate procurement and delivery of equipment on turnkey and key account projects.
9. Report on price variants, target delivery performance, and supplier service levels.
10. Develop, maintain, and improve supplier relationships and agreements.
11. Quantify and produce schedules of materials and goods requirements from drawings and specifications.
12. Monitor and evaluate the supply chain on both a regional and national basis.
13. Ensure all suppliers and sub-contractors are evaluated in line with company health & safety and competency requirements.
14. Manage, support, and mentor the procurement team to ensure departmental efficiency.
Requirements:
1. Very good Excel skills.
2. Qualified or part-qualified professional (CIPS, CIOB, or RICS) would be an advantage.
3. Educated to a minimum GCSE level.
4. Must be able to drive as the location is not accessible via bus.
