We are offering an opportunity for a registered nurse, AHP, or social worker to join our multi-disciplinary team. We want to hear from you if you are highly committed to working with adults without a learning disability who are seeking a diagnosis of autism.
This post is based in Rathbone Hospital/Hartley Hospital, Merseyside within a multi-disciplinary team within the Trust based across Liverpool and Sefton.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of our team and will be responsible for assessment and differential diagnosis of autism. You will provide person-centred recommendations and reports for the person to enable them to access future support for all aspects of their lives. Training in diagnosing autism, and ongoing development, will be available from a supportive and established team.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To have responsibility for a defined caseload of clients under the supervision of the Clinical Lead.
2. To assist other team members with the diagnostic process for those suspected of having an autism spectrum condition.
3. Assist with the appropriate screening of referrals and provide information for referrers, service users, and carers.
4. To formulate reports explaining the person’s diagnosis for a range of audiences including client, families, and other professionals.
5. To liaise regularly with the line manager providing them with an update of caseload.
6. Ensure intervention is provided in a range of settings suitable to meet the needs of the clients.
7. Work in a professional and collaborative manner with the multi-disciplinary team.
8. Provide information, education, and support for family members, carers, and other relevant professionals.
9. Participate and promote positive intra-agency working.
10. Participate in case load supervision to monitor the standards of service user care and ensure record keeping is in accordance with Professional and Trust standards.
11. Participate in regular clinical and managerial supervision with Clinical Lead/Team Manager, as per Trust policy.
12. Contribute to the development and implementation of integrated care pathways, including appropriate service user assessments/referrals and models of care.
13. Compile and maintain effective client records and record outcome measures in conjunction with clients and in accordance with Professional and Trust policies, procedures, and standards.
14. Participate in the induction, training, or education of a variety of staff, students, or volunteers attached to the team/service.
15. Participate and assist in setting standards of service user care based on sound research findings and evidence-based practice.
Person specification
QUALIFICATIONS
* Professional Qualification – Nursing or AHP with up-to-date professional registration (to be maintained)
* Further qualifications relevant to ASC with appropriate training in delivery of ASC diagnostic assessments
EXPERIENCE
* Demonstrate post-registration experience
* Significant experience of work with people with autism/vulnerable adults/mental health difficulties
* Effective team working within a multi-agency framework
* Demonstrate experience of problem-solving approaches
* Post-graduate experience of working with families or carers
* Experience of complex case management
* Knowledge of ASC and needs of this client group
* Understanding of current national policy and initiatives in relation to delivery of services for clients with ASC
