Do you want to work in a department where no two days are the same, working in a fast-paced environment?
Our Childrens and Young Person Emergency Department has recently expanded. We have upgraded facilities and created more emergency cubicles, and therefore we are looking to recruit a professional and enthusiastic Band 6 Paediatric Team Leader.
We look after children from Birth to 16 years in this amazing new environment which is ideal when providing a first-class service. The department has 1 resuscitation bed, and 15 major treatment cubicles, 3 of which are classed as high dependency cubicles. We also have a dedicated mental health assessment room.
We are co-located with an Urgent Care Treatment Centre who deal with minor injuries and illnesses, and between the UCC and both Adult and CYPED departments we attend to around 14,000 patients each month. There are currently 30 staff in the paediatric department. We have a great team of Health Care Assistants, Junior and Senior Registered Nurses, and Paediatric Nurse Practitioners. We also have great links with many multidisciplinary teams to enhance the care we can provide our children and their families.
We are looking for an experienced Paediatric Team Leader to come and join our team in CYPED.
The post holder will work as a senior member of the team providing support and advice alongside effective leadership to a specified clinical team. This will be achieved by ensuring the provision of high-quality safe and effective care.
Responsibilities:
1. Deliver high-quality care to children and young people presenting with a wide variety of undifferentiated conditions.
2. Conduct comprehensive assessment, interpretation of investigations, provision of treatment, and decision-making about ongoing care.
3. Monitor clinical outcomes and patient experience.
4. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment and interventions and care for children and young people presenting with various diagnoses.
5. Utilise highly effective communication skills to ensure children, young people, and their families are fully informed and consent to treatment.
6. Ensure accurate documentation and record keeping in line with local and national guidance.
7. Develop own learning and contribute to the development and innovation of the service.
8. Review training and development of all staff, ensuring all staff have a personal development plan and support staff in reaching their full potential as identified through the appraisal process.
9. Carry out regular appraisals for staff, ensuring outcomes are clearly communicated and linked to objectives.
10. Assist in training, clinical audit, and the setting and monitoring of standards of care.
11. Tackle discrimination, harassment, and conflict and promote equality and diversity in the workplace.
12. Perform staff rota, taking into account skill mix and budget under the supervision of the paediatric matron.
13. Reduce sickness absence, workplace accidents, and promote zero tolerance on violence against staff.
At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, our main priority is, and always will be, to provide safe and high-quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones. We want our organisation to be the best place to work with the right staff, in the right roles, at the right time, to ensure we deliver exceptional patient care and experience.
We will support staff through providing an inclusive and supportive workplace with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits, and opportunities for personal and professional development. Staff recognition is very important to us; as well as performance reviews and appraisals, we recognise staff through Star and Team of the month, colleague recognition – a note of thanks, Managers Awards, Shining Stars, and Service Awards.
We recruit for values and “Together we are North Tees & Hartlepool.” #J-18808-Ljbffr
