We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join our in Area 10 – Strategic Highways account based in Westhoughton, Bolton.
A Highways Maintenance Operative plays an important part in the installation of temporary traffic management. Responsibilities include all aspects of highway maintenance works, including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civil works, litter picking, winter maintenance operations, and emergency call-out operations.
The standard hours of work are 42 hours per week, with a shift pattern consisting of 4 days on and 4 days off.
You will be responsible for:
1. Maintaining high technical standards.
2. Attending project and work briefings as required.
3. Driving/operating vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills, including vehicle checks and routine maintenance.
4. Ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and safe operation to protect members of the public.
5. Carrying out vehicle checks prior to shifts and correctly filling in defect books.
6. Recording of drivers' hours.
7. Allocating and capturing time and resource utilization in line with the operated allocation system.
8. Keeping records and completing all necessary paperwork while communicating with other employees, subcontractors, emergency services, police, general public, clients, and customers.
