At our New Roads Hubs we have ambitious plans to shape how we work with families, placing practitioners and relationship-based practice at the heart of what we do. Through Vital Signs, our vision for Children in Norfolk, we work with whole family networks and across the whole system to support families to build on their strengths and to achieve the best possible outcomes. We bring systemic change to working with the hardest to reach young people, engaging and placing adolescents, and fundamentally challenging traditional methods of practice and theoretical thinking. Bringing together a team of specialists through a central hub, our new model is designed to provide intensive short-term interventions to prevent entry into care, escalation to long term care, prevent placement breakdown or facilitate placement step downs. We are looking for maternity cover for our Communication Support Worker, highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), to work with vulnerable young people who have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) aged between 11-19 years of age, or up to 25 years of age where the individual has a special education need or a disability. Embedded within our New Roads service, you will work alongside a specialist team including a Life Coach (Clinical Psychologist), Education Training and Employment Support, Placement Support and Homelessness Support. You will undertake training within residential children’s homes, with teams such as the Family Intervention and partner agencies to raise awareness of the types of communication difficulties faced by young people and strategies to facilitate their communication. You will maximise the opportunity to build trusting relationships with young people, be flexible and accessible for young people to reach out in settings they are comfortable in. As a qualified speech and language therapist with a relevant degree, you will be HCPC registered with evidence of successful completion or on-going specialist short course/ training up to master’s degree level or equivalent and membership of a relevant Clinical Excellence network (local or national). With experience at specialist level, you will have in depth knowledge of a range of appropriate SLT therapeutic interventions (relevant to the client group) and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits. This is a great opportunity to be part of our service, connecting and engaging with young people to support them to achieve the best possible outcomes in life.
