Underwriting Assistant, Green Solutions (Carbon Markets & Parametrics)
We are currently looking for an Underwriting Assistant to be based in London on a full-time basis, reporting into the Group Head of Carbon & Environmental Commodities.
Climate change is a real and existential threat. It is imperative that the global economy decarbonizes and transitions to “net zero” emissions. By providing targeted insurance solutions, Munich Re’s Green Solutions team aims to contribute to this and act as a “Green Beacon.”
You will support and assist in the development and underwriting of the Green Solutions Account in line with the business plan to facilitate maximum return of profit.
Provide an accurate and quality management function for aspects of the Green Solutions Account, at all times demonstrating care for customers and respect for the regulatory obligations and reputation of the Syndicate.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide administrative and analytical support as follows:
1. Assist in monitoring business metrics (premium income, claims, etc.).
2. Assist in providing management reports as and when required.
3. Support pricing and rate monitoring for the Green Solutions Account.
4. Exposure monitoring and reporting.
5. Take ownership of the administration of delegated authority agreements and business.
6. Assist in developing and maintaining effective business relationships with brokers and clients.
7. Review submissions and/or other information/literature, in support of the underwriters.
8. Conduct research and analysis in support of product and business development.
9. Assist in ensuring Green Solutions Account conforms with the principles of Contract Certainty.
10. Be aware of the potential risks facing the business within own job role and the controls that are in place to mitigate them; and report all significant changes in these risks, or the effectiveness of controls, to your line manager in a timely manner.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge and understanding of:
1. Underlying Principles of Insurance;
2. Legal Principles;
3. FCA and rules and regulations, including contract certainty issues;
4. Demonstrate clear understanding of the roles of colleagues and their relationships to the structure and business plans of the Firm;
5. Develop and maintain market awareness;
6. Interest in energy transition, decarbonisation, natural capital, carbon markets, etc.
