About Chemify
Chemify is creating a future where the access to important molecules, drugs and new materials currently unimaginable are instantly accessible, radically increasing the speed of innovation, quality of life, and reach of humanity. The company is building the infrastructure to digitize chemistry to design, make, and discover new molecules with the desired function and properties instantly and on-demand. Chemify has built a platform that combines purpose-built programming languages, robotics, AI, and the world's largest and continuously growing database of chemical programs to accelerate chemical discovery to new, transformative heights.
Chemify is supported by some of the best investors from Silicon Valley and across the world, including Triatomic Capital, BlueYard ventures, DCVC, Founders Fund, and others.
The Role
You will be joining an expanding team based in the new Advanced Research Centre on the University of Glasgow campus in the West End of Glasgow. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team that spans chemical synthesis, data science, software engineering, and laboratory operations.
As an Associate Data Analyst, your expertise and focused contributions will be vital in managing and analysing complex datasets that drive our cutting-edge research. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining data pipelines, creating data visualisation tools, and ensuring data compliance. Your work will directly support Chemify's mission to digitize chemistry and accelerate the discovery and development of new molecules, drugs, and materials.
Specifically, you will work on synchronising and cleaning data from various sources, developing WebApps for lab analytics, and creating dashboards for high-level visualisation of lab performance and costs. You will also collaborate closely with software engineers, chemists, and other stakeholders to ensure that data is accurately ingested, processed, and used to inform key decisions.
You will work closely with team members from the software engineering, process engineering, and chemistry teams to contribute to the development of the most efficient, automated, and versatile chemical manufacturing laboratory in the world.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Cleaning and Synchronising: Detecting and correcting (or removing) corrupt or inaccurate data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and consistency.
2. Data Analysis: Assist in analysing data to inform decision-making, identify opportunities for process and platform improvement, and assess the viability of execution. Use data to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
3. Analytics Hosting: Develop and maintain watcher scripts and WebApps to automate data outputs and streamline lab operations. Create visualisation tools and dashboards that provide real-time insights into lab performance, resource allocation, and financial models.
4. Quality Assurance: Ensure data compliance and integrity by working with quality control teams and key stakeholders to identify and resolve data issues. Support the ingestion of data into databases, ensuring that data is structured and stored efficiently for downstream applications.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data pipelines that support research and development activities. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including cheminformatics, software engineering, and lab operations, to integrate data-driven insights into Chemify's platform.
6. Business Support: Present data insights and recommendations to the Chemify executive team and other stakeholders.
