We are currently undergoing an exciting phase of expansion, and are looking for an experienced NHS Talking Therapies qualified Senior Counsellor to oversee our team of salaried and associate counsellors.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide clinical leadership and oversight to salaried and associate counsellors attached to Focus Counselling, including Counselling for Depression (CfD) Therapists, Interpersonal Therapists and EMDR Practitioners. Duties will include ensuring the delivery of quality therapeutic interventions in-line with service specifications and contractual requirements. The post holder will work closely with other senior members of staff to ensure the professional delivery of care to clients. The post holder will oversee adherence to contractual commitments by way of team meeting and line management responsibilities thereby ensuring the service meets key contractual performance indicators. The post holder will act as key point of contact for salaried counsellors, including delivering feedback and providing support with clinical issues when required. The post holder will play a key role in service development and keep up to date with wider improvements across the sector.

Job responsibilities
Leadership
1. Provide clinical leadership to a team of salaried and associate counsellors, including CfD Therapists, Interpersonal Therapists and EMDR Practitioners.
2. Provide line management to salaried counsellors.
3. In conjunction with the Operations Team Leader, oversee the induction and onboarding of new staff.
4. Provide operational support and guidance to the Operations Team Leader and Senior Therapist colleagues as appropriate.
5. Act as key point of contact for the service including liaison with external providers, lead providers, commissioners and other stakeholders as required.
6. Contribute to the overall clinical leadership of the service including participation in the Oversight Team and appropriate liaising with other senior colleagues.
7. Deputise for the Clinical Director or other senior colleagues as and when required.
Service Delivery
1. Deliver psychological therapies in-line with service specifications.
2. Work closely with the Operations Team Leader, Senior Therapists and administration team, to ensure the smooth operational running of the service.
3. Collaborate in the monitoring and management of risk issues, including escalation and crises, liaising with secondary mental health services, hospitals, GPs and emergency services as required.
4. Facilitate and attend regular team meetings including Oversight, Senior Therapist and Governance & Quality meetings as required.
5. Provide supervision as necessary to colleagues and arrange appropriate supervisory support for members of their team.
Performance & Quality
1. Monitor service performance, ensuring interventions are delivered in-line with service specifications and contractual standards.
2. Complete regular quality audits of client records, escalating quality issues as required.
3. Ensure interventions are delivered in-line with key performance indicators, including but not limited to recovery rates, patient choice and patient experience.
4. Ensure the timely collection of statistical information and the production of clear and accurate reports for submission to the Directors and commissioners as required.
5. Keep up to date with changes in NICE guidance/NHS Talking Therapies policy, as well as recommended good practice and legislation.
6. Contribute to the development of best practice within the service.
7. Attend line-management meetings, including supervision and appraisal, in accordance with Focus policy.
General
1. Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.

3. Maintain accurate, confidential records in-line with Focus policy and statutory guidance.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified to a minimum of Level 4 in Counselling.
* Possession of a recognised qualification in a Step 3 counselling modality, preferably CfD.
* Recognised qualification in Clinical Supervision.
* Possession of management qualification.
* NHS Talking Therapies CfD supervisory qualification.
Experience
* Previous experience of working in a psychological therapies/adult mental health service or similar.
* Previous managerial experience including the ability to lead and motivate others to achieve goals and deliver the highest quality service.
