A fantastic new opportunity for a successful Business Development Manager – South West based.
The Business Development Manager will responsible for driving new sales by identifying and executing new business opportunities within their designated territory. Primarily focused on engaging with clients in construction, utilities, and reseller sectors, the BDM will deliver customized solutions to support revenue growth, increase customer acquisition, and enhance profitability. This role requires effective communication with internal teams, the ability to analyze market trends, and the competence to present services confidently to potential clients.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The Business Development Manager will be expected to achieve sales growth, turnover, and profit objectives. They are responsible for timely and accurate updating of records on Salesforce and for weekly reporting on activity levels and client interactions. The BDM must also ensure clear and prompt communication of relevant client and competitor information to management.
Job Responsibilities
Sales and Customer Engagement:
The Business Development Manager will promote and sell services to new or lapsed customers, focusing on clients in Facilities Management, Managing Agents, Insolvency Practitioners, Construction, and Retail & Leisure sectors. They will conduct cold calling and prospecting, leveraging both marketing-sourced and self-sourced leads, as well as their own network. The BDM will meet or exceed sales objectives and outcomes for new business acquisition, delivering professional cost-benefit and needs analyses to tailor solutions to each customer’s requirements. Additionally, they will develop and present high-quality, professionally written business cases to support proposals.
Pipeline Development and Management:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for planning strategically and developing a robust pipeline of new business opportunities within the assigned territory. They will track the sales process in Salesforce, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records for each prospect. The BDM will regularly analyze territory potential, track sales, and produce progress and status reports as required.
Market Intelligence and Event Engagement:
The BDM will identify and attend local and regional industry events, such as association functions and conferences, to provide market intelligence on industry trends to marketing and management. They will collaborate with marketing and regional or national management on market trends to support the development of positioning, differentiators, new products, services, partners, and distribution channels.
Client Handover and Relationship Management:
The BDM will introduce the relevant Key Account Manager to the account at an appropriate stage, ensuring an effective handover of the relationship once new business is successfully closed. They will identify and negotiate framework agreements and SLAs with legal and regional management to ensure that company and client expectations are managed.
Additional Duties and Compliance:
The BDM will increase product and service use within the lapsed client base and develop new product growth opportunities. They will deliver professional sales presentations on the company’s products and services to potential and lapsed clients, attend regional sales and progress meetings fully prepared with current market data, and ensure flexibility to attend out-of-region meetings, including overnight stays when necessary. The BDM will report all problems, complaints, and issues to their line manager, communicate appropriately with all relevant parties and perform any other reasonable duties to support regional and national sales efforts.
