Job Title: Senior Hydrologist/Modeller
Advertised Salary: £43,500 to £45,500 depending on experience + benefits
Location: Remote, with regular travel across our network required.

We are currently looking for Senior Hydrologists and Senior Modellers to join our national Water Management Team. The job holder will apply a wide range of technical expertise, modelling solutions and knowledge to secure the effective and efficient management of water resources around the network to meet navigational and other water demands, whilst ensuring compliance with relevant legal, environmental and operational constraints.
Location & Coverage
This vacancy will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to regularly attend our hub spaces as and when required for team working and meetings. It is essential that applicants are able and willing to work effectively from home and travel when required.
Applicants would ideally be accessible to Hatton for regular catch-ups with the wider team. This role will also involve regular travel to and along the reservoirs, canals and river navigations across the canal network.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience
Key Accountabilities:
* Provide specialist advice on water resource management and/or flood risk management issues, to operational and central teams.
* Provide expert hydrological/hydraulic data analysis/modelling to the required quality and timeliness.
* Effectively manage water management projects ensuring delivery to time and budget.
* Ensure compliance with The Trust’s and partner's policies and procedures.
* Contribute to the development of national policies, procedures and plans.
* Display the Trust values and behaviours at all times.
* Ensure that diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of Trust life.
About You
Technical:
* Preferably a Post Graduate Degree (e.g. MSc) or equivalent in a relevant subject.
* Ideally chartered or close to making an application for chartered membership of a professional body.
* Broad knowledge, understanding and application of primary hydrological processes and models.
* Proven experience in the development, application and reporting of hydrological and hydraulic modelling studies.
* Comprehensive experience of handling, manipulating and presenting hydrometric/spatial data.
* Experience in managing technical projects.
General:
* Computer literate in MS Office and awareness/experience of GIS or mapping systems.
* Excellent written communication skills and numerical ability.
* Good presentation skills, able to convey complex information effectively.
* Effective communication and ability to guide and influence technical decision-making.
* Ability to manage own and others' time effectively.
* Positive approach to problem-solving.
* Understanding of regulatory and legislative frameworks affecting the Trust’s water management.
* Valid driving licence appropriate for vehicle to be driven.
