Special Education Teacher
Hours: 8:30 – 3:30 with PPA time allocated
Pay: Minimum of £166.32 per day (As per the National Framework for Wales)
Location: Bridgend, Bridgend County Borough Council
Qualifications required: Degree with QTS, PGCE with QTS or equivalent for UK
Teaching Personnel are delighted to be working with a school in Bridgend which is looking for Primary Trained Teachers to begin or continue their career within Special Education. This position offers the opportunity to create a specialist role while immersing in the curriculum of Additional Learning Needs.
Working within Special Education allows for transferable skills essential for practicing QTS. Enthusiasm to engage young learners and adapting teaching styles to meet pupils' needs will be key elements of your practice. The class sizes will be no larger than 12 pupils, with at least 2 Specialist Support Officers (Teaching Assistants) present to assist in providing necessary support.

The school is situated in Bridgend and supports approximately 200 pupils aged 3 – 19 with various additional learning needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Complex Medical Needs, Severe Learning Difficulties, and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The school prides itself on being specialists in their field, supporting every child with passion and understanding.
The school seeks someone enthusiastic, resilient, and willing to engage fully in every situation. Flexibility and creativity in approach are essential to achieve daily, weekly, and term goals, varying by class based on what engages the children and promotes their best progress. A mentor will be available on-site to support the transition from mainstream to special education, ensuring you feel equipped to flourish in this role.
