We are currently seeking an Instrument Technician to join our small team of skilled engineers manufacturing industrial endoscopes at our factory in Burgess Hill. This is a varied role, and the successful candidate will be involved in all stages of the manufacturing process, from machining/modifying components through to assembly and inspection.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manufacturing/modifying components.
- Assembling instruments to specification.
- Inspecting components made externally.
- Ensuring finished instruments conform to specifications.
- Evaluating instruments returned for repair.
- Completing and filing the necessary paperwork.
Skills, experience, and qualifications
Due to the specialised nature of the work, training will be given; however, candidates should demonstrate a background in engineering. The position would suit someone who has completed an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering. It should be noted that the successful candidate will be required to work with microscopes; however, experience of this is not essential.
Desired skills and experience:
- Mechanical assembly experience.
- Experience using manual lathes and milling machines.
- Experience using a variety of machine and hand tools, such as pillar drills, bench grinders, taps, and files.
- Experience using measuring equipment, such as micrometers, callipers, and height gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Ability to solve technical problems and work independently.
- Good numeracy and literacy.
- Good organisation and communication.

We are a small, ISO reigistered company that has been manufacturing industrial endoscopes and inspection equipment for almost 40 years. Much of our work is bespoke and we supply a number of different sectors, including aerospace, nuclear, marine, security, and academic research.
- 39 hours per week. Mon-Thu 8:00-16:30, Fri 8:00-15:30.
