Technical/Financial Accountant - Statutory Accounts, Pensions and Treasury London Minimum 6 months £600/day (Inside IR35) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Technical/Financial Accountant to join the Pensions, Treasury, and Statutory Accounts team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting year-end closing activities, interim audit processes, and the production of statutory accounts for 2024/25. Key Responsibilities: The appointed candidate will be responsible for: Statutory Accounts: Supporting project work related to the implementation of IFRS 16 Lease accounting for the 2024/25 accounts. Assisting with external audit requirements, including data analysis for the interim audit. Addressing audit queries for both the 2023/24 and 2024/25 financial years. Contributing to the completion of the 2023/24 Whole of Government Accounts. Coordinating year-end debtor/creditor reconciliations. Preparing various disclosure notes for the 2024/25 Statement of Accounts and supporting the wider team in the completion of the accounts. Pensions: Assisting with the year-end Pension Fund closing programme and annual audit. Ensuring compliance with the latest regulatory and statutory requirements, including the completion of statutory returns within legislative timelines. Supporting pension fund treasury activities to ensure sufficient liquidity for payments and trade settlements. Aiding in the effective monitoring and delivery of all Pension and Statutory Accounts projects. Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will: Hold a full professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA). Possess significant experience in financial reporting, statutory accounts preparation, and year-end closing within a local government environment. Demonstrate a strong understanding of regulatory and audit requirements, including IFRS standards. Have excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
