About Baltic
Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art is a major international gallery situated on the south bank of the River Tyne in Gateshead, England. Having welcomed over 9 million visitors since opening in July 2002, Baltic presents a distinctive and ambitious programme and is a world leader in the presentation and commissioning of temporary contemporary visual art exhibitions. Housed in a landmark ex-industrial building, Baltic houses 2,600 square metres of art space, making it one of Europe’s largest dedicated contemporary art institutions. Baltic has presented the work of over 460 artists of 60 nationalities in 220 exhibitions to date. Baltic is supported by Arts Council England, Gateshead Council and Northumbria University.
Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art are looking to recruit a dynamic and self-motivated Head of Development & Enterprise. Sitting at the heart of our Development and Enterprise department, you will be in the engine room of the charitys income generation. You will have a demonstrable record of planning and generating income from a variety of sources including corporate partnerships and individuals, and have an affiliation with the aims and objectives of Baltic Centre of Contemporary Art and understand its cultural and social value.
The Head of Development & Enterprise will play a critical role in the delivery of Baltic’s charitable purpose and partnerships, as well as working with the Directors, consultants, and board of trustees on major fundraising initiatives. You will be comfortable communicating with a variety of stakeholders, understanding their aims and translating them into actionable results on behalf of the organisation. You will be excited to lead fundraising initiatives of seven figures.
Reporting to the Director of Public Value, together, you will strategise, plan, and deliver Baltic’s income generation, from inception to project closure. You will work closely and effectively with The Director and Chair of the board as well as key internal stakeholders across Baltic departments to manage the development of deliverable goals, maintain ethical standards, and support organisational reputation. You will be adept at managing multiple priorities and have a demonstrable track record of raising significant sums from a variety of sources which include corporates and philanthropy. You will line manage the Development & Enterprise Manager who has a focus on Trusts and Foundations.
The Head of Development & Enterprise will effectively support the Directors and lead the creative and communications teams in the planning, resourcing, and delivery of an integrated fundraising strategy that aligns with Baltic’s objectives; ensuring that targets are met, in accordance with Baltic’s mission, vision, values, and organisational plan.

Direct reports: Head of Trading, Development Manager
Salary: £50,802, pay award pending and negotiable dependent on experience
Working hours: 37 hours per week; we offer a flexitime scheme
