Our core business activities are teaching and learning, widening access to education, research and innovation and technology and knowledge transfer. - THE ROLE - The KTP Associate will undertake the complex task of optimising two robot welding systems which will encompass suitable part selection, designing effective work-holding fixtures & applying protocols to elevate production. The role involves utilising skills in design, engineering for production, robotics & automated manufacture, it also involves working with stakeholders (academics and industry) and managing the project to create a robust system to support the companys productivity & growth. The Associate will need to advocate for the project's importance and convince stakeholders of its value, thus highlighting the potential benefits it brings to the business, targeted development partners and clients. - ABOUT YOU - - At least an upper second-class honours degree from a relevant discipline (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related disciplines) - Experience of engineering design and development for product manufacture - Experience of systems development, data analysis, and programming for automated or semi-automated systems - Experience of control and automation equipment (plc, robotics, controllers, inverters etc) - Evidence of demonstrable skills in product development and use of design software development tools/technologies - Evidence of production planning and scheduling - Knowledge and experience of using research methods (and understanding of qualitative and quantitative research) and/or being involved in research - Willingness to travel to various locations as required by the needs of the post Further information can be found in the candidate briefing document, available to download from the advert on the Ulster University Jobs portal.
