We have a current opportunity for a Civil/Mechanical Engineer on a permanent basis. The position will be based in central London 2 days a week with 3 days WFH a week. This is with a fast growing solar contract firm. Project Design and Planning: Collaborate with the engineering and project teams to design, develop, and implement grid scale solar photovoltaic and battery storage systems (BESS). Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for potential project locations, considering environmental, structural, and mechanical factors. Civil Engineering: Oversee the design of foundations, access roads, drainage, and other civil infrastructure required for the construction of solar farms and battery storage facilities. Manage and assess geotechnical reports, ensuring the stability and suitability of land for renewable energy installations. From time to time, supervise the construction and installation phases, ensuring that all civil works are carried out to specification and in a timely manner. Mechanical Engineering: Design and from time to time, oversee the installation of mechanical components such as mounting systems for solar panels, HVAC systems for battery storage, and other critical mechanical infrastructure. Evaluate and select appropriate materials, equipment, and systems to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the projects. Perform stress analysis, thermal management, and failure mode analysis on mechanical systems involved in solar and battery energy storage installations. Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in civil and/or mechanical engineering, preferably within the renewable energy sector (solar or battery storage). Proven track record in the design and delivery of solar energy projects, battery storage systems, or large-scale infrastructure projects. Familiarity with UK planning regulations, construction standards, and environmental impact assessments. Technical Skills: Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Revit, or similar tools). Knowledge of BESS technology and solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including mechanical mounting and structural analysis. For further information about this position please apply.
