Job Summary: Senior Lawyer (Legal Officer) - Property, Planning & Regeneration Pay: £40.00 per hour Reports to: Principal Lawyer (Property, Planning & Regeneration) Objectives: Provide specialist legal advice and support to the Council, ensuring compliance with legal requirements in planning and regeneration matters, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Legal Service. Main Duties: Manage a varied caseload, particularly related to Planning and Regeneration, providing legal advice to the Council and its partners. Offer complex legal advice with minimal supervision and represent the Council in court, including high-level inquiries and hearings. Advise elected Members and attend Committees, providing reports when necessary. Ensure all work complies with legal and practice standards, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Legal Service. Support the development of colleagues and assist in team supervision, recruitment, and training. Contribute to business planning and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure up-to-date legal knowledge and provide training to Council staff and partners. Additional Responsibilities: Report illegal or procedural issues to the appropriate senior officers. Adhere to Health and Safety, Data Protection, and confidentiality requirements. Provide flexible support across the team and assist in the development of the Legal Service. Progression Criteria (PO7): Demonstrate expertise in multiple legal areas, exceptional client satisfaction, and ability to mentor colleagues. Contribute to strategic development, manage workload effectively, and remain up-to-date with relevant legislation.
