The post-holder will work as a member of the Urgent Care Service in Barnet, part of the North London Foundation Trust. This post oversees and continuously improves the quality and culture as well as the therapeutic offer available in the acute care services in the inpatient wards.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality specialist psychology service within the acute care pathway.
* Undertake psychological assessments and provide evidence-based short-term psychological interventions.
* Contribute to the ward-based therapeutic group work program and provide individual and group supervision within multi-disciplinary teams.
* Provide psychological formulation and consultation to contribute to the care plans of service users being treated on the ward or in CRHTT.
* Work collaboratively with the psychological therapies acute care team and the ward MDT.
* Provide specialist psychological assessment, treatment, and consultation on clients’ psychological care.
* Supervise psychological assessment and therapy provided by doctoral trainees and other MDT members.
* Provide training, supervision, and support to other clinical members of the team.
Person specification
Qualification and Registration
* Doctoral level training in clinical psychology.
* Eligibility for Chartered Status with BPS.
* Registered with HCPC as a psychologist.
* Pre-qualification training in research methodology and applied psychology.
Skills & Abilities
* Skills in complex psychological assessment and intervention.
* Competency in neuropsychological assessments.
* Effective communication skills.
* Ability to provide consultation to professional and non-professional groups.
* Knowledge of specialized psychological therapies.
* High level knowledge of at least two specialized psychological therapies.
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to mental health.
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment across various care settings.
* Experience of working with diverse client groups.
* Experience of being an integrated team member.
* Knowledge of research methodology and data analysis.
Personal Qualities
* Commitment to psychological treatment in the acute care pathway.
* Ability to work independently and maintain professional boundaries.
* Ability to manage organizational stress.
Other requirements
* Ability to teach and train others.
* IT skills including e-mail and word processing.
* Personal experience of mental health problems.
* Interest in service development.
